A brake disc, in simple terms, is a round plate that turns when the car is moving. Brake calipers clamp the brake disc to generate braking force, and when you hit the brake, it clamp the brake disc to slow down or stop. The brake disc brakes well and is easier to maintain than the drum brake.

The brakes have disc brakes, drum brakes and pneumatic brakes. Many older cars have front disc and rear drum brakes. Many cars have disc brakes before and after. Because the disc brake has better heat dissipation than the drum brake, it is not easy to produce thermal recession under high-speed braking, so its high-speed braking effect is good. However, when braking at low speed, the braking effect is not as good as the drum brake. The price is more expensive than the drum brake. Therefore, many medium and high-end cars use full disc brakes, while ordinary cars use front disc and rear drums. Trucks and buses with relatively low speed and large braking force still use drum brakes.

The drum brake is sealed and shaped like a drum. There are also many called brake pans in China. It rotates when driving. There are two arc-shaped or semi-circular brake shoes fixed inside the drum brake. When stepping on the brakes, the two brake shoes are stretched out under the action of the brake wheel cylinder, supporting the brake shoes and rubbing against the inner wall of the brake drum to slow down or stop.
